Michael Dalton has been a practising lawyer for over 50 years, 30 of them in Hong Kong.   In 2007 he joined Hampton, Winter and Glynn as a consultant, focusing on corporate and commercial matters.

 

After his release from the Royal Air Force in 1961, Michael practised as a solicitor in the UK, focusing largely on advocacy.  In 1981 he joined a newly formed local partnership in Hong Kong as a consultant, before becoming a partner. He was initially Head of the Litigation Department but subsequently concentrated on corporate commercial work, advising overseas SMEs or subsidiaries in Hong Kong of overseas corporations.

 

Michael is a respected adviser, author and commentator on the corporate commercial law of doing business in China.  He currently acts as non-Executive Director and advisor to several foreign controlled enterprises with investments in China. 

 

Michael has also served on the Board of Directors of the World Law Group, an international association of independent leading commercial law firms worldwide.

 

Michael is the lawyer of trust for the Austrian Consulate in Hong Kong and a member of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce.  He is a member of the European Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and is also a member of the British Chamber of Commerce.

 

Michael was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1958, and in Hong Kong in 1981.  He was made a Notary Public in Hong Kong in 1992.
